General Information: When renting a car in Cuba, the driver should pay a mandatory insurance to the rent-a-car personal who delivers the car at pick-up place. It covers liability for physical damage or loss of the vehicle, including total or partial theft, collision, overturn, car crash or accident by natural disasters.
Insurance only covers clients listed in the contract for rent. The cassette or CD player in cars & the replace tire are not covered by the insurance. In case of partial or total theft, a Police Report is required.
Car Insurance is to be paid in destination at pick up place & the rate is $10.00 CUC per day.
Extra charges that a driver can inflict upon depending on requested services:
. Additional driver: $3.50 CUC per day.
. Professional driver by the rent-a-car office: $50.00 CUC
. Pick-up & Drop-off services within the perimeter of Havana City: $10.00 CUC
Other mandatory fees when renting a car in Cuba:
. When receiving the car, driver should leave a refundable down payment of $200.00 CUC.
Always remember that:
. Clients can extend their contracts at any Rental Office along the country.
. Road signs are the same as those contained in the international codes.
. Driving is on the right.
. The use of seat belt is compulsory.
Please, don't forget to have the car & its accessories properly checked when receiving and returning it and ask car deliverer for a telephone number in case of emergencies.
